Parent Letter - Urdd Gobaith Cymru

5th November 2014
Dear Parent,

We have a great opportunity to get involved with Urdd Gobaith Cymru. The Urdd is one of Wales’ largest youth organisations and gives children opportunities and experiences to bring the Welsh language to life through sport, music, art and performance. Children can become members for the year and as part of their membership there are a wealth of opportunities:

• Competitions and activities include taking part in swimming, rugby, netball, gymnastics, football and cricket as well as a sports festival.

• The Urdd hold National Eisteddfods each year where children take part in activities including art, design and technology, pottery, puppet making, designing a website, photography, jewellery making, music, singing (solo, choir), instrumental performances, folk dancing, disco dancing, poetry recitation, poetry writing, dialogue and drama. As you are aware the National Eisteddfod will be coming to Abergavenny in 2016, taking part in the Urdd Eisteddfod is a great way to get involved!

• As a member of the Urdd, children also receive regular Welsh leaners magazines.

The PTFA together with the school have very kindly offered to fund the cost of the membership for children this year. If your child is interested in becoming a member of the Urdd Gobaith Cymru and taking part in the activities, please complete the form at the end of this letter and return it to me by 12th November.

Yours sincerely
