Dear Parent or Carer,

The Winning Classes are: Mr Kane and Miss Cooper’s Class – First time two classes have won!

As you know we aim for every class to get 100% attendance each week. Anything over 95% is good. Last term we did not managed to achieve our attendance target of 95%, but scored 94.4%. Looking at the attendance figures for January we need to make big improvements if we are to reach our 95% targets in the spring term.

Can I also remind parents they need to contact school each morning their child is absent from school. You can leave a message on the school’s answer phone, stating the reason your child is not in school e.g. tonsillitis.

After half term your children will receive a ‘Golden Ticket’ for being in school all week.

PC Cath

PC Cath will be in next week to work with learners in Year 5 and 6 on basic first aid.

St David’s Day

We will be celebrating St David’s Day on March 1st. All the children are invited to dress up in Welsh Costume for the day and we will have our Whole School Eisteddfod Competitions in the morning. Models for the School Eisteddfod should be completed during the half term holiday and brought into school on Monday February 27th, for judging. Winning entries will be entered into the Abergavenny Eisteddfod.

The canteen will be serving a themed meal of Glamorgan sausages or pork and leek sausages; lamb meatballs or vegetarian meat balls and Welsh apple cake and vanilla ice cream. The weekly roast beef dinner will be served on Tuesday 28th February.

Golden Rules

After half term we will be learning about the second of our four Golden Rules, ‘We are kind and gentle’. Children will be able to earn ‘Golden Tickets’ for following this rule and the rule of ‘Looking after property’.

Golden Rule

  • We are honest – we don’t cover up the truth
  • We are kind and gentle – we don’t hurt  others and we don’t hurt their feelings
  • We listen and work hard – we don’t interrupt and we don’t waste our own or others’ time
  • We look after property – we don’t waste or damage things.

Half term holiday

School finishes on Friday February 17th and reopens on Monday February 27th.

Parent Council

After half term we will be reinstating our Parent and Carer Council. We would like there to be at least one parent from each of the classes represented on the parent forum. If you are interested please can you complete the slip at the end of this letter and return it to school.

Next term I would like parental input on the schools:

Sex and Relationship Policy

Positive Behaviour Management Policy

Any other matters parents would like to explore and discuss.
