Dear Parent or Carer,

The Winning Class is: Miss Badman’s Class – Hurrah!

As you know we aim for every class to get 100% attendance each week. Anything over 95% is good. Last term we did not managed to achieve our attendance target of 95%, but scored 94.4%. Looking at the attendance figures for January and February we need to make big improvements, if we are to reach our 95% targets in the spring term.

Open Morning

We will be holding our annual Open Morning on Friday March 3rd between 9:30am – 11:00am. A letter has been sent out reminding families and their friends to join us in school and in classes to find out more about how we use information technology, to enhance our learning. Parents will also be able to hear how they can best protect their children on-line.

We will also be officially unveiling our beautiful mural in the school’s reception area which has been designed by our children and painted by local artist Elin Blake.

Parent Meetings

We will be holding meetings with parents to discuss your children’s progress at school on Monday March 13th and Tuesday March 14th between 3:30pm – 6:00pm. Teachers will be sending out appointment times this week. If you are not able to keep your appointment or your appointment is not convenient, can you let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible so the appointment can be rearranged. I would encourage all parents to attend these meetings as we know that parental engagement in their child’s education makes a huge difference to their academic success.

If families need separate appointments for parents, can you please let your child’ class teacher know.

St David’s Day

We had a great day on Wednesday Celebrating St David’s Day. You will find lots of pictures on Twitter, in the Argus and in the Chronicle.

Golden Rules

We are learning about the second of our four Golden Rules, ‘We are kind and gentle’. Children will be able to earn ‘Golden Tickets’ for following this rule and the rule of ‘Looking after property’.

Golden Rule

  • We are honest – we don’t cover up the truth
  • We are kind and gentle – we don’t hurt  others and we don’t hurt their feelings
  • We listen and work hard – we don’t interrupt and we don’t waste our own or others’ time
  • We look after property – we don’t waste or damage things.

Parent Council

A reminder parents need to return the slip at the bottom of the Thursday letter dated February 9th or contact me in school to say they would like to represent their child’s class by joining the Parent Council.

Miss Cooper still remains off school; we are hoping she will be well enough to return to school before the end of the month? Mrs Williams will be starting her maternity leave shortly. Miss Barry will be taking over as the Year 2 class teacher; Mrs Thomas will teach in Reception.
