Dear Parent or Carer,

The Winning Classes are: Mr Kane and Miss Cooper’s Class –Miss Barry’s Year 2 Class – WOW!

Attendance for many classes is still a cause for concern. We are currently 94.5% but this is still below our target of 95%.

Excellent school attendance has a direct impact on learner performance. This can be clearly seen in the children’s’ books and levels of engagement and confidence in class. Please help us to help you to improve your child’s attendance. Call Jill Phillips on 01873 735010.

Staff News

Mrs Williams gave birth to a baby boy, George, on Tuesday this week. We wish her and baby George well.

Miss Guppy will be teaching in Class 5C for the remainder of this term, in Miss Cooper’s absence.

School Meals

School meals will be increasing in price from April 1st by 10p to £2.10 per day/ £10.50 per week. This will be the last week of this term. School meals must be paid for in advance at the beginning of the week. They can be paid at the office or sent to school in an envelope marked with your child’s name, class and the days you wish them to take a school meal.

Lunch menus and information about free school meals entitlement can be found on Monmouthshire County Council’s website.

Parent Meetings

A big thank you to all parents and carers who attended parent meetings this week with their child’s class teacher. Unfortunately due to staff absences some meetings have been re-arranged, we appreciate your patience.

You can follow the PTFA on Facebook. The PTFA are looking for a secretary to take minutes at meetings – if you can help please speak to Danielle Farrington.

The PTFA will be running an art day at school for Key Stage 2 on 4th and 5th April. They need families to donate ceramics (china cups, plates, bowls, etc. to be used for mosaics), Lego, bottle tops and plastic letter magnets.

The PTFA Chocolate Bingo will be hosted at school on Friday March 31st at 6pm. This is a fun evening for all the family with hot dogs and refreshments for sale.

Golden Rules

We are learning about the second of our four Golden Rules, ‘We are kind and gentle’. Children will be able to earn ‘Golden Tickets’ for following this rule and the rule of ‘Looking after property’.

Golden Rule

  • We are honest – we don’t cover up the truth
  • We are kind and gentle – we don’t hurt others and we don’t hurt their feelings
  • We listen and work hard – we don’t interrupt and we don’t waste our own or others’ time
  • We look after property – we don’t waste or damage things.
