We aim for every class to get 100% attendance each week. Anything over 95% is good. Last term we managed to achieve our attendance target of 95%.

Golden Rules

We have begun to introduce a new approach to behaviour management in school, starting with our ‘Golden rules’. These rules are ‘moral values’, they are the vision for the school and for each person it nurtures. The Golden Rules are a vision of the people we want our children to be. They are the moral value which underpins all the choices and decisions made by the school and its learners.

  • We are honest – we don’t cover up the truth
  • We are kind and gentle – we don’t hurt  others and we don’t hurt their feelings
  • We listen and work hard – we don’t interrupt and we don’t waste our own or others’ time
  • We look after property – we don’t waste or damage things.
  •

As we introduce the Golden Rules and uphold this moral code in our school we will be focusing on one Golden Rule at a time. This week and next week we are concentring on ‘We look after property’. Children who clearly demonstrate they do not waste or damage things in their day-to-day activities at school, will be awarded ‘Golden Tickets’. Each week there is class draw from the box of ‘Golden Tickets. Those children drawn from the draw will have afternoon tea with Mrs Davies during that week.

Next week I will be telling you more about how we can earn rewards by living by these rules in school.

Post Graduate Students

We will be welcoming Post Graduate Students to school, over the next term. These are students who have chosen a career in teaching, following the completion of a degree course. These students will be supporting the class teacher, working with individual and groups of learners and teaching the whole class under the supervision of the class teacher. Miss Barry, Mrs Mayo and Mrs Taylor/Phillips’ classes will all have this extra support.

Fluoride Varnish

Children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 will be offered the chance of having a Fluoride Varnish coating put on their teeth on Tuesday January 24th at school. Only those children with completed permission forms from parents will be able to benefit from this service.
