Helo ac Croeso i Dosbarth Derbyn!
Welcome to our Reception class at Deri View!
The teachers are Miss Thomas, Miss Court and Mrs Lewandowski.
We have 25 children in our class this year and we are eager to learn, have fun and work hard.
Our project this term is “Heroes and Villains”. We will be thinking about the qualities of heroes and villains and looking at the everyday heroes around us from fire fighters to doctors to the farmers who produce our food. We hope to have visits from some of the people who help us and plan to go on a trip to Raglan Farm Park.
The children will bring home a book bag each week with key words and a letter and a number to learn. We will be concentrating on
Writing our names correctly with correct letter formation and a capital letter at the beginning.
Learning our letter sounds and number names.
Learning our key words.
Counting to 10 and back.
It is also important to read plenty of stories and sing rhymes to your child in order to encourage a love of reading. Jigsaws are also useful to help with pre reading skills. Any opportunities you can give them to hold a pencil and write or draw will help them to develop their pencil grip.
Please ensure PE kits are in school at all times – we keep them in the classroom in the big purple bucket.
Every half term we will go up to our Forest School area on site to learn about the world around us. Keep an eye on the notice board for dates as they will need wellies. We go out whatever the weather!
If you ever have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to come and have a chat! We are here to help.
